Welcome

Historic Friedens Church is located in the beautiful farmland of Geronimo, Texas. Friedens United Church of Christ has faithfully served the Geronimo, Seguin, New Braunfels, and San Marcos communities of Texas since 1896. The church was founded deep in the heart of Texas by German pioneers who settled the land as farmers and ranchers.

Friedens means "Peace" in the German language, and the Peace of Christ is at the heart of our life and faith.

Today you will find both a traditional and contemporary community of faith comprised of the diverse culture of South Central Texas. Our families live on the farms and ranches of historic Geronimo, and in the new neighborhoods of the growing metropolitan areas between San Antonio and Austin.

  • Sunday Worship Services

     

    Worship Services are each Sunday at 10:00 AM, in-person at the church and live-streaming on Facebook; recorded service is uploaded each week on You Tube

     

  • Confirmation Class Registration is Open

     

    Confirmation is a lifelong process of maturing in the Christian faith. Families begin this journey when they make promises to God at a child’s baptism, and it continues throughout one’s life.

    Friedens Church offers confirmation ministry to youth who are in 8th grade and older. Confirmation begins in September and ends on the first Sunday of May which is Confirmation Sunday ( this year: May 4th). This ministry encourages youth to take ownership of their faith by asking questions, reflecting on topics presented, Church history, Bible studies, gatherings, and missional opportunities.

    We hope that by the end of the year these experiences will help students affirm their faith for themselves with the continued support of family and the church.   Blessings, Pastor Dave and Pastor Sonja

    Youth Ministry Program

    Grades 6th-12th 

    Compass Cooperative Youth Ministry is comprised of 4 local churches: Emaunel's Lutheran, Friedens Church, Spirit of Joy Lutheran and St. Andrew's Episcopal who have joined together to provide a safe and welcoming place for youth to gather on a weekly basis.  For more information about Compass contact: Hannah Hansen, Program Director at hannah@elcseguin.org

  • Friedens Faith Factory (Children's Sunday School)

     

    Friedens Faith Factory (Children's Sunday School for ages Pre-K- 5th grade) is held each Sunday at 10:00 AM  Children are dismissed with their leaders following the Children's message during the worship service to the Activities Center. Friedens Faith Factory ends following the worship service.

  • Nursery Available Sunday Mornings

    A nursery is available for children 5 years old and younger. The nursery room is located in the educational building nearest the Sanctuary. Parents may bring their children directly to the nursery before worship at 10:00 a.m., or bring their children to worship and have the children go to the nursery after the Children's message.

  • Bible Study Group

    Bible Studies are offered each Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the church. The 10:00 AM study led by Pastor Dave takes place in the Bormann Conference Room in the Activities Center.
